Looking Up at Fifth Avenue Place

Good evening, everyone! Tonight's photo features a "looking up" style shot of the Fifth Avenue Place Building (also referred to as the Highmark building) in downtown Pittsburgh. This particular angle was captured along Stanwix Street, near the Gateway Station. What I liked most about this image is that the sun had just set, and so "blue hour" was just getting underway. With the sky being such a rich color of blue, it really allowed the blue-tinted windows of this building to stand out even more. And, as you can see in the image, a holiday wreath is still on display, as it was taken just after the new year.

For those of you not from Pittsburgh, you might be interested to know that this 616-foot tall building is our city's 4th tallest (when including the 178-foot tall spire). Built in 1988, it houses 29 floors of office space located just above two ground levels of retail shopping and dining space.
